HNC Living Foundation receives a $50,000 grant from the Delta Dental of Oklahoma Foundation
Grant will support oral health of head and neck cancer patients in Oklahoma

(OVERLAND PARK, KS) March 18, 2021 – To help Oklahoma head and neck cancer patients struggling with the impacts of their diagnosis, Delta Dental of Oklahoma Foundation (DDOKF) awarded HNC Living Foundation a $50,000 grant.

Each year, more than 65,000 people in the United States will experience head and neck cancer for the first time. Most head and neck cancer patients start their journey with dental care. Treatment involves radiation which impacts a patient’s ability to talk, eat, chew and other daily functions related to oral health.

HNC Living, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of head and neck cancer patients through financial assistance for critical services, will use the Delta Dental of Oklahoma grant to support patients with dental care related to their cancer diagnosis.

“Although head and neck cancer patients all experience differences in their cancer journeys, many will need dental care at the beginning and end of their treatment,” stated Danielle Yearout, HNC Living Chief Executive Officer. “We’re committed to getting these patients the dental care they need at the start of their treatment and as they move into recovery.”

“The mission of Delta Dental of Oklahoma and its Foundation is to improve the oral health of all Oklahomans,” said Terrisa Singleton, Director of the Delta Dental of Oklahoma Foundation. “DDOKF is honored to support HNC Living Foundation’s efforts to procure necessary dental services for cancer patients, particularly during a crucial time in their lives.”

Since 2015, HNC Living has awarded over $1.5 million in grants that have aided more than 3,000 head and neck cancer patients.

Among the services HNC Living supports are:

  • Dental services including restorative dentures and dental care, before and after cancer treatment
  • Patient services including prescriptions, traditional and complementary therapies, nutritional supplements and medical supplies
  • Transportation assistance, lodging and food as a result of travel for treatment
